Moral

The following opportunities are examples of how we support the moral development of pupils.

• Providing a clear moral code for behaviour which is promoted consistently through all aspects of the school, for example, behaviour policy, class rules, anti-bullying week.
• Promoting equality relating to; gender, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, SEN, (Equalities Policy, SEND policy).
• Giving pupils opportunities to explore and develop moral concepts and values throughout the curriculum; for example, exploring truth, justice, equality of opportunity, right and wrong through stories in English.
• Assemblies are often vehicles for the promotion of moral values and ethics.
• School Councillors and Year 6 monitors afford pupils personal investment in the moral codes of the school.
• Year 2 pupils visit a local old people’s care home to entertain them with music, thereby encouraging moral understanding by valuing all members of society.  Similarly Key Stage 2 visit a local church to perform music as part of a community carol concert.
• Rewarding expressions of moral insights and good behaviour (team points, achievement certificates)
